The newly formed Pelham Rugby Club had a highly successful debut. Having just started this fall, the club now has 35 children participating in twice weekly practice/game sessions at Spring Street field. The club fields three teams: 6-7 year olds, 8-11 year olds, and over 12.
On Oct. 19, 2008, the club traveled down to Chelsea Waterside Park at 25th Street and the West Side Highway in Manhattan to participate in its first tournament. All three Pelham teams won their respective divisions.
Scoring for their teams were Luke Persanis, Brendan Kleinberger, Nicky Senerchia, Michael Eustace, Jake Collucci, Morgan Collins, Jacob Jones and Kees Huisman.
The club will host its own tournament on Nov. 16 from noon to 4pm at Spring Street field. Everyone is welcome to come down and see if the club can continue its winning ways.
